The Rembrandt House shows the studio of this famous Dutch painter and how he lived. Rembrandt lived in this house from 1639 to 1658, a period of highs and lows in his life. During this time he painted the Night Watch and his wife Saskia died. The house has been a museum since 1911. The rooms where Rembrandt lived have been restored to their former state as far as possible. The museum has an extensive collection of his etchings, several etch plates and some of his drawings.
